Insecticide dusts are an effective solution for crawling insects, providing long-lasting control of pests. Rockwell’s CimeXa Insecticide Dust is a unique dust containing 92.1% silicon dioxide as amorphous silica. The engineered silica dust is an extreme desiccant, quickly absorbing moisture from the crawling insects that crawl through it. While CimeXa provides unmatched control of bed bugs, it is also extremely effective against a broad spectrum of pests. As with bed bugs, the engineered silica destroys the protective waxy cuticle on insects, leading to rapid dehydration and death. It works much faster and is very different than a diatomaceous earth dust that pierces the outer layer of insects with the sharp edges of the DE particles, causing them to lose essential body fluids. CimeXa’s versatility offers many advantages, making it a great asset for PMPs.

CimeXa is an odorless, non-clumping, and non-staining insecticide dust that provides control of a broad spectrum of crawling insects including bed bugs, fleas, ticks, lice, roaches, ants, silverfish, spiders, stored product/pantry beetles and moths, mites, and drywood termites. It provides many benefits including:

CimeXa is ideal for use in dry areas. It is important that repellent products are not used in locations where CimeXa is applied. When applying a dust, it is recommended to use a dust mask, gloves, and eye protection. Though CimeXa is virtually non-toxic, it can be temporarily drying and/or irritating due to the strong desiccant effect. CimeXa can be applied two ways, either as a dust or as a wettable dust.
Dust Applications
For the quickest control results, a dry dust application is recommended. CimeXa can be applied using a hand duster, a low-volume electric duster, or a brush. For treating wall voids, plumbing chases, behind electrical outlets, or in cracks and crevices, use a hand duster or a low-volume electric duster. Apply the dust at a rate of 2 oz per 100 sq ft. In attics and crawlspaces, CimeXa should be applied at a rate of 1 lb per 1000 sq ft. Only a light, visible film is needed when applying the dust.
Use a craft or paint brush when needing to push dust into cracks and crevices or the tufts and folds of mattresses and cushions. Depending on the band width and the amount of dust needed, various brush widths and bristles can be used. For most surfaces, a 1 ½” or 2 angled sash brush works well. For more detailed work on furniture and mattresses, a smaller brush is ideal. Load the brush with the desired amount of CimeXa by lightly working it around a small container of the dust. You can also apply a small layer of dust using the applicator bottle, handheld duster, or electric duster and then use the brush to work the dust into the desired location.

Wettable Dust Applications
CimeXa can also be applied as a spray when mixed with water. Mixing CimeXa with water will create a slurry. When it dries, it will return to its white dust form. The most effective mixing rate is 1 cup of dust in 1 qt of water. For this application, a typical hand actuated spray bottle is ideal. If a compressed air sprayer is used, the fine mesh screens should be removed, and the mixing rate is 4 cups per 1 gallon of water.
You will want to apply 1 qt of the slurry per 250 sq ft. It is best to apply two light coats to the area, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second coat. This will allow the CimeXa dust to “sit up” on the treated surface, ensuring maximum product pick-up as the crawling insects walk through it.

CimeXa can also be injected directly into galleries and voids. For injection treatments, add the appropriate amount of foaming agent to the slurry mixture.
When working to eliminate a pest infestation, it is important to choose a product that delivers effective results. CimeXa provides quick and long-lasting control of a broad spectrum of crawling insects. It is versatile, allowing for applications in the varying areas insects are likely to harbor as well as allowing PMPs to choose the application method that best suits their customers’ needs. These advantages make CimeXa a great addition to your pest management program
