Green Zone Logo- What Does it Mean?

In the pest control industry, there has been a growing demand for greener products. To remain competitive, it is important to adapt to these changes and offer green service programs to your customers. Understanding what companies mean when they use the term green and choosing the right products will help ensure PMPs fulfill their customers’ expectations. Rockwell Labs offers a range of products that are green and highly effective against a broad spectrum of crawling and flying insects.

What Does “Green” Mean?

Green is a term often used in marketing slogans, but some companies will stretch this definition. Though a product is marketed as green, it does not necessarily mean it is non-toxic, organic, or natural. Greenwashing occurs when a company presents misleading information about its products and their environmental impact. When promoting a green service program or offering a green product as an addition to a conventional program, it is important to deliver what is promised. If you are implementing a green service program, you do not want to blend the use of green and conventional products.

What Does the Green Zone Logo Mean on a Rockwell Product Label?

Many of Rockwell’s products have a Green Zone™ logo on the label. This logo is used on products that we consider suitable for a green service offering. These products contain ingredients that fall into one of three categories:

  1. The ingredients are classified by the EPA as “Minimum Risk”.
  2. The ingredients are FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe).
  3. The ingredients are allowed by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP).

Many of the ingredients used in our products fall into more than one category. We also use the Green Zone logo on non-pesticidal traps and attractants. The product lines or products that have the Green Zone logo on them include:

What Are the Active Ingredients Used in Green Zone Products?

Rockwell Labs uses a variety of ingredients in our insecticide sprays, baits, and dusts as well as our bio sanitation products. The Rockwell products with the Green Zone logo are formulated with borates, plant oils, amorphous silica, and microbes.

  • Plant Oils: Our EcoVia botanical products are formulated with plant oils as the active ingredients. Each product is formulated with a different combination of multiple botanical oils, each comprised of components that have insecticidal activity chosen to maximize efficacy for specific insects and applications. Plant oils used include rosemary oil, thyme oil, lemongrass oil, clove oil, and 2-phenylethyl propionate. PEP is a component of peanut oil, but it is not the component that causes the peanut allergy. Peanut allergens are not used in our factory.

  • Amorphous Silica: Amorphous silica is a mined mineral that is FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) and may be used as a food additive. Amorphous silica does not have a crystalline structure and does not cause silicosis. It is used widely as a desiccant, a preservation agent, a catalyst, and a purifying agent in many industrial and consumer products. Our CimeXa insecticide dust contains silicon dioxide as amorphous silica.
  • Microbes: Microbes are the primary ingredient in our InVade bio sanitation products. These naturally-occurring soil microbes produce living “enzyme factories” that digest organic matter and elimin

The needs of residential and commercial customers will likely change. To keep up with the growing demand for green products, PMPs can implement a green service program. When offering these programs, it is important to deliver what is promised. Rockwell’s Green Zone logo makes it easy to identify products that are suitable for green service programs, enabling PMPs to choose products that align with their customers’ needs.
