EcoVia G Granular Insecticide: The Perfect Complement to Mosquito & Tick Treatments for Targeted Applications

EcoVia G Granular Insecticide is a broad spectrum, research-based 25(b) exempt botanical product that is the perfect complement to sprays for mosquito & tick treatments, including EcoVia MT Mosquito & Tick Control concentrate and EcoVia EC Emulsifiable Concentrate, as a supplemental spot treatment to extend residual control.

Target EcoVia G applications in landscapes with heavy vegetation and groundcover, under porches and decks and other shaded damp areas, the boundaries between wooded areas and turf, in areas where water tends to pool or as a broader area application as a stand-alone treatment. When used as a treatment in heavy vegetation and groundcover, the granules fall to ground level where sprays may not reach for better coverage. EcoVia G provides long-lasting repellency protection and larval kill, and it does not need to be watered in.

Repellent insecticides basically control insects by repelling them away from treated areas, preventing infestations before they start. They create an insect barrier where they are applied…But did you know there are actually 2 types of repellent classifications?

The first type is called “excito-repellents,” which is the type of repellency provided by synthetic pyrethroid insecticides. With excito-repellents, the insects have to actually come in contact with them. The irritating effect this has on the insect can cause erratic behavior…and potentially repel them. So in order for an “excito-repellent” product to be most effective, it requires a very thorough application to ensure insects come in contact with it.

The other type of repellency is called “true repellency,” which is the type of repellency provided by botanical insecticides, like EcoVia Botanicals. Many botanical oil components act in the vapor phase. Insects that come in the vicinity of them are repelled by the vapors, which cover areas larger than where they are actually applied. Because of this vapor repellency action, true repellents are more forgiving and do not require as thorough of an application as excito-repellents to be effective controlling pests.

An important feature that is specific to EcoVia G is that it is formulated with a higher level of botanical active ingredients when compared to some other 25(b) granules on the market. In fact, it has over twice the level of active ingredients. A higher level of botanical actives means EcoVia G delivers quicker control and longer residual protection against a broader spectrum of crawling insects and mosquitoes. Another benefit of having a higher level of botanical active ingredients is lower use rates, which saves PMPs money and time. For outdoor applications, the use rate is only 1 to 2 lb per 1000 square feet, which is less than half vs. other 25(b) granules. The lower application rate also means a smaller size 10 lb bag goes a lot farther. The smaller bag is easier to handle and saves space on trucks.

As with all EcoVia Botanical 25(b) products, EcoVia G is ideal for sensitive accounts, has no pyrethroid use restrictions, can be used near water, is a minimal risk to pollinators, and does not require notification in most states (be sure to check your state regulations).

EcoVia G is labeled for outdoor perimeter and yard applications, and soil treatments. It is a Green Zone product, meaning it is suitable for green service programs. EcoVia G comes in a 10 lb resealable bag.  For more information, please visit the Rockwell Labs website: www.rockwelllabs.com.
