Continuous Microbial Drain Line & Drain Treatment Options

Sanitation problems can arise in commercial facilities due to the presence of chronic moisture and organic matter build-up. These issues can be addressed in an effective and green manner with Rockwell’s InVade Bio Sanitation products. For drain lines and grease traps where organic build-up is an ongoing problem, implementing a continuous microbial treatment program is ideal to help prevent organic debris build-up and odors in drains and drain lines.

How Continuous Microbial Treatments in Drains Work

Rockwell’s InVade Bio Sanitation products are the ultimate green cleaners that work more effectively than simple chemical cleaners in areas with organic matter and chronic moisture. The naturally-occurring soil microbes found in Rockwell’s InVade products digest organic matter and eliminate odors. The continuous treatment of drains and drain lines maximizes the effectiveness of the microbes. The microbial spores activate when they come in contact with their food source—the organic debris—and they double every 20 minutes after that until their food source is eliminated. The microbes digest fats, oils and grease (FOG), carbohydrates, proteins, cellulose, and urea. The microbial treatments can also be used for grease traps to reduce required pump outs and odors. Rockwell’s InVade products are suitable for green service programs and will not harm plumbing, septic systems, or municipal water treatment operations.

Products Available from Rockwell Labs

Rockwell Labs has three options in the InVade Bio Sanitation product line-up to help PMPs implement a continuous microbial treatment program: InVade Bio Bullets, InVade Power Dose, and InVade Mini Doser.

InVade Bio Bullets are slow-dissolving solid blocks containing super-concentrated premium microbes designed for grease trap maintenance and other bio remediation applications. The blocks contain non-toxic, naturally-occurring bacteria in high concentrations that can handle difficult organic problems. The bacteria in the block reduces sludge, fats, oils, and grease build-up as well as other food-based waste and odors. The blocks dissolve slowly, releasing microbes as water runs over them. In low flow drain systems, InVade Bio Bullets dissolve over a 30–90 day period, providing continuous treatment and degradation of waste. They can be placed inside or on top of floor drains for ongoing treatment. Rockwell’s “mini” Bio Bullets work well in soda fountain drip trays, condensation pans, and small drains.

Invade Bio Bullets come in 4 sizes:

  • 5 lb bullets for grease traps, to reduce required pump outs and odors.
  • 1 lb bullets for small grease traps and interceptors, or for placing in large rectangular collection drains.
  • 100 gram “minis” and 50 gram BT beverage tray bullets that can be put just about anywhere with chronic moisture—beverage fountain trays, condensation pans under ice machines, in or on top of smaller floor drains, and in urinals.

InVade Power Dose

InVade Power Dose is a programmable battery-operated dispenser injection system that delivers a metered dose of concentrated microbial solution to drain lines, effectively eliminating organic build-up and odors. The cartridges contain premium, natural microbes that will digest organic matter and other food. They do not contain any harsh chemicals or fumes. InVade Power Dose is easy to install and compact in size, allowing for flexible installation close to where drain treatment is needed. A full cartridge contains a 30-day dosing supply of the microbial solution. For best results, it should be installed in drain lines with daily water flow. The InVade Power Dose can be used for commercial applications in food service facilities as well as in professionally serviced residential drain lines. It is a great addition to any bio sanitation program.

InVade Mini Doser

InVade Mini Doser is a programmable dosing pump that can be used anywhere bio remediation is needed. It is designed to be used with InVade Bio Cleaner to treat drains and traps. It automatically doses the correct amount of microbial cleaner with its tamper-resistant programmable digital timer. InVade Mini Doser can be set to dose 8 times in a 24-hour period, and it can treat grease traps up to 500 gallons in size for 90 days. The wall mounted unit includes the pump, timer, fittings, and bracket designed to hold a 1-gallon jug of InVade Bio Cleaner. Using InVade Mini Doser will extend the service intervals for grease trap pump outs or drain maintenance.

Bio sanitation is an effective green solution to the sanitation problems caused by chronic moisture and organic matter build-up. Drains are a common hotspot for scum build-up and organic debris, so addressing them is important to preventing sanitation issues. A continuous microbial treatment program can help prevent and eliminate these sanitation concerns, making it a great add-on sales opportunity to bio sanitation programs.
