EcoVia MT vs EcoVia EC: Which One Should I Use?

Our EcoVia botanical pesticides were developed through extensive scientific research and are effective against a variety of pests. EcoVia MT mosquito & tick control and EcoVia EC emulsifiable concentrate are two concentrates in the EcoVia product line. While these products offer similar advantages, there are distinct differences between the products, and each product provides unique benefits. Understanding these differences will help you choose the right product for your customers’ varying needs.

Shared Advantages of EcoVia MT & EcoVia EC

EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC offer many of the same advantages, providing reliable and highly effective results. These advantages include:

  • Botanical Active Ingredients: EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC are both formulated using botanical oils as the active ingredients. They are the most researched and tested FIFRA 25(b) exempt formulations on the market. These products are suitable for green service programs.

  • Quick Knockdown & Residual Protection: Both products provide quick knockdown/kill of pests and true residual repellency protection. The botanical components act in the vapor phase, causing pests to be repelled by the vapors when they come in the vicinity of the product.
  • Mix Easily & Stays in Solution: EcoVia EC and EcoVia MT mix easily and stay in solution like traditional synthetic pesticides, providing more effective coverage and performance.
  • Range of Dilution Rates Based on Control vs Preventive Treatments: Both product labels allow for a range of dilution rates based on the type of treatment needed. For control of an active infestation, dilute the product less. For preventive treatments, dilute the product more.
  • No Water Set-Back or Pyrethroid Use Restrictions: These products do not have any water set-back restrictions. There are also no pyrethroid or neonicotinoid use restrictions.
  • Application Methods: Our products can be applied with a compressed air sprayer, backpack sprayer, power sprayer, mist blower, or fogger.

  • Sizes Available: EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC are available in a 16 oz bottle or a 64 oz tip-n-measure bottle.

Differences Between EcoVia MT & EcoVia EC

While EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC offer similar advantages, their unique formulations provide different benefits as well. The main differences between these products include the range of control, labeled use areas, and dilution rates.

Broad Spectrum Control vs Targeted Control

EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC provide a different range of control. EcoVia MT is formulated to control mosquitoes, ticks, and flies. The plant oil active ingredients were specifically chosen for their efficacy against mosquitoes and ticks, so it is the go-to product for mosquito and tick treatments.

While EcoVia MT has targeted control of specific pests, EcoVia EC provides broad spectrum control and is labeled for a wide array of crawling and flying insects, including mosquitoes and ticks. The plant oil actives were chosen because they are effective against a wide range of insects.

Labeled Use Areas

EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC differ in areas where they can be used. While both are labeled for outdoor use, EcoVia EC is more versatile with broader usage. EcoVia EC is perfect for perimeter, lawn, and landscape treatments. It may be applied near and over water such as around boat docks and marshy areas. It can also be used indoors in residential and commercial accounts including food handling facilities and livestock facilities.

EcoVia MT can be used outdoors and applied up to the water’s edge, but it is not labeled for use over water. Though EcoVia MT is primarily labeled for outdoor use, specifically for mosquito, tick, and fly control, it may be used in unfinished indoor areas including attics, basements, garages, and sheds.

Dilution Rates

EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC have different dilution rates. EcoVia MT is more concentrated with a higher percentage (69%) of active ingredients compared to EcoVia EC, which contains 42% active ingredients.

The higher concentration of plant oils in EcoVia MT results in lower dilution rates. For mosquito and deer tick control, EcoVia MT should be diluted at a rate of .33-.66 fl oz per gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq ft. For larger ticks, such as lone star ticks, the dilution rate is .66-1 fl oz per gallon of water.

For mosquito control, EcoVia EC has a higher dilution rate of 1-4 fl oz per gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq ft. When treating for ticks, the dilution rate is 2-4 fl oz per gallon of water. While the EcoVia MT concentrate costs more, the application rate cost is lower than EcoVia EC.

EcoVia MT and EcoVia EC are highly effective botanical products that offer many advantages. When choosing between these products, the level of versatility you need will likely be the deciding factor. EcoVia EC has a much broader label and controls a wide range of crawling and flying insects. If targeted control of mosquitoes and ticks is needed, EcoVia MT is the better choice. The needs of your customers’ service programs will change, and our range of products ensures you have access to the different products you need to meet these changing needs.
